Upgrade to Windows 7? I say go for it.

For the past few months I have been using Windows 7 and I have to say that I am extremely pleased with the overall look, compatibility, and performance of Microsoft's newest operating system.

Now through July 11, Windows XP and Vista users can pre-order the Windows 7 upgrade for half the price ($49 for Windows 7 Home Premium and $99 for Windows 7 Professional). And, all new computers purchased from last week through October 22 will get a free Windows 7 upgrade when the software is released in October.

From my personal experience I have found Windows 7 to be faster than XP or Vista (it has no trouble simultaneously downloading files while browsing the internet or launching applications), and the new interface, with realistic icons and killer graphics, give the desktop a cool and fresh look.

Furthermore, the Windows 7 operating system starts and shuts down very quickly; comes with an anti-spyware package pre-installed; and has a thumbnail overflow taskbar that allows you to organize and quickly find a file or application.

Overall, I think it is worth it to upgrade to Windows 7- especially with the price. Just don't forget that Microsoft is only offering this special until July 11, so don't wait too long if you're thinking about making the switch.

To coincide with Microsoft's pre-sale Pat's Computer Rescue will also offer, for a limited time, complete Windows 7 installs at a discounted rate of $99. Once your software arrives we'll set up your new operating system, instruct you on how it works, and make sure everything is working properly.

5 Reasons why your Computer needs Regular Check-Ups

1. To End the War!

Cyberspace is a dangerous world. Each time you go online your computer is attacked by viruses, Trojans, bots, spyware, and other nasty programs that not only destroy your computer if not properly removed, but can also be used to steal your personal data. At PCR, we'll show you how to protect your computer, and clean out all the harmful viruses and malware that may have found their way inside.

2. To Save you Money!

It costs significantly less to have your computer serviced by Pat's Computer Rescue than it does to purchase a completely new hard drive. Protect your computer by giving it the regular maintenance it needs. You wouldn't go three years without getting your car's oil changed would you?

3. To Maximize Performance!

Excruciatingly slow internet browsing, sluggish program loading, pup-ups, error messages... These are all indicators that your computer is not performing the way it should be. Regular maintenance- including eliminating unwanted files, repairing damaged programs, removing spyware, and cleaning external components, will help ensure your computer is running properly.

4. To Stay Up-to-Date!

Downloads, upgrades, service packs, updates... You're computer is as demanding as a teenager when it comes to staying up-to-date with the latest trends. Let us keep your operating system current by installing the latest programs and updates.

5. To Protect Important Data!

All files, documents and photos should be backed up on a regular basis. You never know when your computer might crash, and you need to be prepared before it happens. Don't lose irreplaceable data by neglecting to have your computer properly backed up.
